THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER – Well GO USA Entertainment has acquired North American film rights to Jean-Claude Van Damme’s Swelter, a modern-day Western also starring Alfred Molina, Lennie James, Catalina Moreno and Freya Tingley.

Keith Parmer directed the ensemble movie about four men who blast their way out of jail 10 years after robbing more than $100 million from the Luxor Casino in Las Vegas. They track down their former accomplice, who never got caught, to a dying desert town. The only hitch: he has no memory and is now a sheriff. But to save his new life, he must remember his violent history.

The deal was brokered by Well Go’s Doris Pfardrescher and The Exchange’s Brian O’Shea. The Exchange produced and financed the film with Film Invaders and Grand Peaks, and sold it to independent distributors around the globe.
“We are delighted to release Swelter to the North American audience, an action-packed modern western bringing back JCVD to his fans,” said Pfardrescher.

Well Go USA, which focus on genre titles and Asian cinema, hasn’t announced a release date. Swelter may only be available on VOD and other digital platforms.

THE OUTSIDER ARGENTINA – When we were kids, we used to believe in many different things, that as grown-ups we stopped believing. However, we have TV shows like “Once Upon a Time”, which allow us to keep believing in fairy tales.

Freya Tingley portrays Wendy Darling in the TV show. But, unlike the traditional story of Peter Pan, Wendy went to Neverland, for the second time, to save Bealfire, a boy who saved her brother Michael for being taken by Peter Pan’s shadow. So she decided to go and save Bealfire, but she was kidnapped by a mean version of Peter Pan and forced to spend the days in a cage, until Emma, Regina, and the other characters saved her.

This year, Freya is going to appear on a Lifetime movie, called “The Choking Game”, based on the book “Choke”, in which a teenager flirts with disaster after being introduced to the “game” of intentionally cutting off oxygen to the brain to get high.

She is going to portray Taryn, who is starting senior year when a charismatic new girl claims her as a “breath sister”.

In a conversation with The Outsider Argentina, Freya spoke about her moving from Australia to the United States, her character on Once Upon a Time and her newest movie “The Choking Game”.

DEADLINE – The telepic based on Diana Lopez’s novel Choke follows a teenager who flirts with disaster after being introduced to the “game” of intentionally cutting off oxygen to the brain to get high. Freya Tingley (Hemlock Grove) stars in The Choking Game as Taryn, who is just starting her senior year when a charismatic new girl claims her as a “breath sister” as they take “flights” together. Frasier alum Peri Gilpin also stars in the Lifetime Original as Taryn’s mom, who tries to help after sensing that something is seriously wrong with her daughter. THE WEST AUSTRALIAN – Hollywood roles are closer for a growing troupe of young WA actors, with technology enabling them to audition from home.

Rising Perth stars are finding success through Skype, YouTube or even iPhones as they record auditions at home to send to top casting directors in Los Angeles.

While back in Perth for Christmas, LA-based actress Freya Tingley kept busy filming auditions in her Mt Claremont home with help from her mother Coppelia.

“Freya did quite a few auditions from our lounge,” Mrs Tingley said. “We even have a special blue backdrop we hang up.

“It was filmed on her iPad, my husband modified the camera stand and we sent it off to the US.”

THE WEST AUSTRALIAN – Freya Tingley was left gobsmacked following her first encounter with Hollywood movie icon Clint Eastwood.

But it wasn’t because the burgeoning Perth actress was starstruck.

Rather, the 19-year-old had been madly racking her brain after Eastwood told her that they’d met before – at Cottesloe Beach.

“I said ‘I’m sorry I don’t remember’, then he said ‘I’m just joking’,” Tingley laughed to AAA yesterday.

“I asked him how he knew about Cottesloe Beach and he said he has a friend in Perth who told him that’s where all the cool kids hang out.”

Jokes aside, Eastwood was very taken with Tingley, having chosen her to star in his next directional project, a film adaptation of the popular Broadway musical Jersey Boys.

“I auditioned for the casting director and my tape was sent off with two other girls to Clint Eastwood, and he was taking a look at the tapes and picked me,” Tingley said.

“I’m a big fan of the 70s for film. I feel like its a golden era of film and he’s such a big contributor of that era. So to be working for someone who is so renowned and respected is really exciting.”
